Did you know that the word thanks or thanksgiving appears in the Bible approximately 100 times (depending on the version)? That doesn’t even include other variations such as thank, thanked, thankful, etc. Giving thanks to God is even modeled to us by Jesus.
There is no doubt that we, as Christians, are to have hearts of gratitude. And it's never too early to start teaching thankfulness to our kids!
Here are 7 verses on thankfulness that toddlers and preschoolers can learn.
Isaiah 12:4 (NLT)
Toddler: Thank the Lord!
Preschooler: Thank the Lord! Praise his name!
Psalm 100:4 (ESV)
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
1 Chronicles 29:13 (ESV)
Toddler: And now we thank you, our God
Preschooler: And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.
Psalm 118:1 (NLT)
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
1 Thessalonians 5:18
In every thing give thanks.
Psalm 105:1 (ESV)
Oh give thanks to the Lord.
Psalm 92:1 (NLT)
Toddler: It is good to give thanks to the Lord.
Preschooler: It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High.
Tip: Make memorizing a little easier (and more fun, too!) by adding in some simple hand motions. You can also make a chant or song.
