Easter is my absolute favorite holiday because it is the day that Jesus conquered death - after paying the ultimate sacrifice for me. It is the reason we have hope and eternal life. It is truly a reason to celebrate. But, before the resurrection, so many things happened in Jesus' life and several of the lessons (like parables) children learn in Sunday School all took place in one day during Holy Week!
I have put together a kid-friendly Holy Week timeline along with Scriptures to read with your family. Like I said, it was a jam packed week which means there would be a lot of Scripture to read. So, I have kept it as simple as possible.
What is Holy Week?
Holy week is the week of Easter which starts on Palm Sunday. It is a time when Christians can reflect on and celebrate Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.
Holy Week Timeline & Scriptures
Below is a timeline of events that took place during Holy Week. For the sake of little attention spans, the Bible passages are brief. If you are interested in more detail, you can read Matthew chapters 21-28.
Palm Sunday - The Triumphal Entry
Monday - Jesus' Authority Questioned
Tuesday - Jesus Anointed at Bethany
Wednesday - Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus
Maundy Thursday - The Last Supper
Good Friday - Jesus is Crucified

Designate a time and a special place in your home for your Bible reading to help keep consistent.
Additional Ideas for Making Holy Week Special:
Have a foot washing and/or communion on Maundy Thursday.
Visit a beautiful garden and talk about how Jesus went to the garden to pray.
Attend a Good Friday service.
